Log Home Chinking

YOUR LOG HOME, CEDAR HOME AND ROOF
RESTORATION EXPERTS SINCE 1995

Log Chinking is very important for weatherization and heating/cooling efficiency.
This is a very good picture of how a good application of chinking should look like.
One side of the logs were in really bad shape and needed to be sanded down. The log chinking was in good condition and we were able to work around it.
This section of logs was in very poor condition. We replaced the old Chinking with new better quality chinking and matched the existing color very well.
This chinking is still in place even though the stain is failing. If the logs are not maintained and become weathered it can cause the chinking to fail.

What is Chinking

Chinking is a type of sealant used to eliminate the space between logs allowing the log house to be more energy-efficient. The Chinking is designed specifically for log homes because it expands and contracts with the logs. Chinking also prevents pests and water from infiltrating the house. Our company uses Chinking that comes in many different colors to get the exact look you desire.
